"Art Deco Bronze Sculpture - Dancer with Mask - Signed F. Preiss"
Height | 41 cm |
Width | 18 cm |
Length | 15 cm |
Weight | 4,2 kg |
This uniquely coloured Art Deco statue by Ferdinand Preiss portrays an erotic female figurine on a discreet green marble base. The dancer holds a mask in front of her face, which can be seen as more of a symbolic act, as her delicate facial features can be seen without problem. The long, flowing fabrics that playfully surround the slender body of the Art Deco dancer are crafted in a very realistic fashion and thus skilfully produce numerous highs and lows throughout the motif. An elaborate patina rounds off this masked dancer and individual, small paintings done by hand accentuate the overall effect of the bronze sculpture. The resulting bronze and gold hues underline the impression of depth of the statue, which also bears the signature of the artist.
Our bronze figurines and sculptures are created in an elaborate process that features a lot of different stages of production. Our main production technique is the so-called lost wax technique, which is a tried-and-tested method when it comes to the production of bronze statues.
Works by Ferdinand Preiss (1882 - 1943) are characterised by an admirably detailed design - just like the works of many of his well-known contemporaries. Demetre Haralamb Chiparus, Pierre Le Faguays and last but not least Ferdinand Preiss himself had a huge impact on plastic art during the Art Deco period. Their fascinating depictions of women are still relevant to this day and highly regarded throughout the art world.
