"Yawning Hippopotamus - Bronze Sculpture by Rembrandt Bugatti"
Height | 20 cm |
Width | 26 cm |
Length | 12,5 cm |
Weight | 5,2 kg |
The Yawning Hippopotamus, designed and realised in 1904/05 by Italian object artist Rembrandt Bugatti, seamlessly fits into the overall work of the artist who specialised in realistic animal sculptures. Placed on a green marble base with an exquisite facet cut, the sculpted hippo is presented with a wide open mouth. The decorative hippopotamus seems to yawn, so that its teeth and tongue are perfectly visible to the observer. The opulent animal figurine stands on a stylised ground made of bronze, which in turn bears the signature of the artist. Additionally, the exotic sculpture is exclusively limited to 20 pieces and serially numbered. The naturally proportioned animal depiction is modest and timeless. Due to its reasonable size, the sculpture can be flexibly positioned and thus finds the perfect spot in any room.
The products we offer are made of 100% high-quality bronze and are cast and refined by hand. Strict guidelines ensure the quality of our products during their creation. Therefore, we will only offer you products of the highest quality. All sculptures are created via lost wax technique.
The name Bugatti is often associated with luxurious limousins and speedy race cars. As the younger brother of the esteemed automobile manufacturer Ettore Bugatti, the sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti is certainly linked to the famous car maker family. His passion, however, was always the arts. Thus, the name Rembrandt Bugatti is more known for bronze animal sculptures, which made him one of the greatest sculptors of the 20th century.
