Modernist sculpture - Rapto de Europe - by Fernando Botero

Famous modern art bronze sculpture "Rapto de Europe"  - "The rape of Europe", a stunning creation from the incomparably Columbian artist and sculptor Fernando Botero. It pictures a portly nude female sitting on the back of a heavy bull. The figure is made of 100% bronze, mounted on a solid base of glossy polished marble and also it's signed with Fernando Boteros signature.

In the process, the artist neglects details and puts even more emphasis on disproportion of his models. Fernando Botero, who first worked as illustrator and designer and now concentrates on painting and sculpting, was born on April 19, 1932. He is living in Paris, France and married to Sophia Vari. Botero once called himself as the "the most Colombian of Colombian artists". Besides his great work as a sculptor Botero is also a very talented painter.
