Product description

"Modern Sculpture- Boy sitting on horseback- signed G. Lachaise"

Weight 12,8 kg

This nice and beautiful bronze sculpture is made of 100% bronze and is signed G. Lachaise. Furthermore, the sculpture is fixed on an impressive marble base. The slim horse is looking very elegant because of its slim shape. The horseback and the neck form an almost horizontal line. The little boy, who is sitting on the straight back of the horse, seems to be a little undecided about staying on the horseback or jumping down easily. Because of its size, the sculpture is well suitable for the interior and exterior design. If the sculpture is placed outside, it will get the typical bronze patina after a while.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help oflost-wax casting.

The American sculptor Gaston Lachaise with French origins was born on March 19, 1882 in Paris and is known as a pioneer of the American Modernism. After Gaston Lachaise finished school he decided to study art in Paris, France and attended the Ècole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris. There Gaston Lachaise attracted attention with his sculptures. The most famous sculpture ever was his sculpture "Standing Woman". Because Gaston Lachaise felt in love with Isabel Dutaud Nagle he left Europe and went with her to the USA. She was not only his inspiration but his love. The artist Lachaise pictured the beauty of womanhood with his sculptures and was the first sculptor ever, the Museum of Modern Art in New York dedicated a retrospective to him during his lifetime. Sadly, Lachaise died a few days after the exhibition opened. His date of death is October 18, 1935.
