This beautiful bronze trophy was created by the Portuguese artist Miguel Fernando Lopez and is a great and realistic image of a young and athletic female volleyball player. The slender girl is standing in a tense posture and is taking the ball that was just passed to her. Her legs are wide apart for better standing; her arms are stretched-out, ready to recieve the ball. It seems like the young woman really likes this kind of sports and wants to keep becoming better. The sportive woman is pictured with a natural but concentrated expression. The outfit of the female volleyball player is a very traditional, with short trousers, a top, knee pads, knee-length socks and sneakers; her hair is fixed to a ponytail. Milo created a very detailed, filigree and realistic sculpture that is affixed on a solid marble-base. The bronze trophy itself was made of 100% finest bronze material and is signed by the sculptor Milo.

Milo was born in 1955 in Lisbon with the name Miguel Fernando Lopez and was interested in art ever since he was a young man. He attended University and studied arts and sculpting. Nowadays Milo is known all over Europe and is working as a freelance artist; he concentrated on creating modern art sculptures, animal figures and nude sculptures. Milo loves to get inspired by the artwork of other sculptors as well as by popular sports or activities. Playing volleyball, like the young woman pictured, is quite a popular sport with American origins. Volleyball is a team sport played with two teams of six players. The aim of the game is scoring points by grounding the volleyball on the court of the opposing team. Both teams must follow organized rules while playing the game. The winner is the team, which scored more points than the other team. The setting happens above the head of the players. Making a forearm pass, like the depictured female volleyball player is doing it, is also called bump. Serving the ball means to drive the ball into the game and into the opponents court. In so-called contemporary volleyball up to six types of ball servings are known. The team sport volleyball is an Olympic discipline since the games in 1924 in Paris, France. A variation of the game is called beach volleyball. This game is guided by similar rules, but is played on a court made of sand.
