Mythology Bronze Discobolus, signed Myron

The filigree designed bronze sculpture „Discobolus“ – once created by Myron – is a fantastic mythology sculpture. It was made of 100% finest bronze and is a signed exhibit - signed by its creator Myron, who made the original cast of this sculpture between 460 till 450 BC. „Diskobolos“ is the portray of a male athlete and one of the best known sculptures from ancient Greece. The detailed sculpture is impressive art because of the noble material bronze and because of the very elegant as well as sportive touch of this piece of art. The artist Myron staged the power, the proud and the grace of the sportive athlete perfect. For a perfect finish the bronze sculpture „Diskobolos“ was affixed on a solid marble base.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.

„Diskobolos“ was created by the Greece artist Myron around 460 till 450 BC. With that the sculpture is an exhibit made during the period of the high classical age of ancient Greece. The original of this classical mythology bronze sculpture was probable once situated in Olympia or in Delphi. A copy of the ancient original is nowadays exhibited at the National Museum of Rome, Italy.  This copy has a height of 1,55 meters and was found at the Esquilin in 1781. The sculpture „Diskobolos“ is nowadays bequeathed in six different roman fragments. Because the sculpture is a well known exhibit it got copied a lot and is still known as a nice souvenir from Italy as well as from Greece. Another life size copy is exhibited at the botanical garden of Copenhagen.
