The founder of famous bronze manufacture in Vienna, Franz Bergmann, was born on September 1838 in Gablonz. When he was young, he went to Vienna and studied the processing of bronze in the works of Josef Ott and his daughter became the wife of Franz Bergmann. In 1860 he passed the chaser examination for the masters certificate and he got to know the bronze art of France, when he visited the world exhibition in Paris. He studied the art of natural patina and began to produce bronzes and he was very successful with animal figures and erotica bronzes were very favoured.
