The famous manufacture of bronze in Vienna was founded by Franz Bergmann and is nowadays known as “Bergmann - Wiener Bronzen”. In 1838 he was born in Gablonz and as a young man, he learned the craftsmanship of bronze with the help of Josef Ott and later went on to married the daughter of his mentor. During the world exhibition in Paris 1884 he noticed, that he had the wish to produce bronzes. Franz Bergmann studied the bronze art of France and he was very delighted to discover the secret of the natural patina. His company reached big successes and with his retirement the oldest son took over the business.
