Modern Art - Floating Godfather (1922) - Ernst Barlach

The motif of a floating figure became the leitmotif of Ernst Barlach’s sculptural work. With the "Floating Godfather" from 1922 Barlach revived the motif, which was already implemented in “The Floating Angel" from 1912. The long-bearded floating Godfather positioned with outstretched arms is placed on a solid base. He wears a wide, fluttering robe with an angular arrangement of the folds. The bronze sculpture is signed by E. Barlach.
