The great sculptor François-Auguste-René Rodin was born in Paris, France in 1840. Auguste Rodin studied at the École des Arts décoratifs and he fully dedicated his life to the art. He travelled to Rome and Florence, searching for the secrets of Michelangelo. He went back to France and kept on studying. In 1900 several pieces of his work were shown at the world exhibition in Paris. Many awards and honorary titles were given to Rodin. Rodin was known as the pioneer of modern sculpture. Therefore it is unbelievable that François-Auguste-René Rodin never attended the Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris, the best school of arts in Paris, but he attended the École des Arts Décoratifs until 1862. The sculpture "The Thinker" is known as a sculpture or a part of his famous "Gates of Hell". This portal was supposed to be the entrance of the new Musée des Arts Décoratifs, which was never build. Auguste Rodin is one of the best known French sculptors. He died on November 17, 1917 in Meudon, France.
