Milo’s bronze nude, entitled "A Bent-over woman on a marble pedestal", is a graceful testimony of the contemporary ideal of beauty. The sculpture evokes the prevailing ideal of beauty for woman. The prevailing notions of beauty have proven through the ages to be highly adaptable. The ancient female beauty is characterized by small waists, protruding hips and strong legs. The contemporary notion of female beauty is characterized by narrow hips and waists, slim, defined legs and shapely breasts. The latter characteristics are combined in Milo’s bronze figure. The stooped posture of the woman accentuates her slim, delicate shape and highlights her subtle curves. In the detailed design the intimate zone of the young woman is not spared. The bronze sculpture is placed on a round marble base and signed with Milo.

The Portuguese artist Milo specializes in the production of modern nude and animal sculptures. After studying Fine Arts, he gradually established himself as a Europe-wide-known sculptor. With his wife and his son Pablo, also working as an artist, he lives and works in a suburb of Lisbon.
