The "Ballerina with leg up" is a bronze sculpture of Colombian artist and sculptor Fernando Botero. His works feature a figurative style, called by some "Boterismo", which gives them an unmistakable identity. Botero depicts human, daily life, historical events and characters, milestones of art, still-life, animals and the natural world in general, with exaggerated and disproportionate volumetry, accompanied by fine details of scathing criticism, irony, humour, and ingenuity. Botero portrays characters in their bizarre opulence that you would usually associate with a slim shape, for example soldiers or bullfighters. The ballerina poised with a suggested lightness on his toes of her left foot. Similar to Rubens or Picasso Botero dealt intensively with questions about the area and the presence of mold.
