Devil with mussel shell, Vienna bronze, with Bergmann stamp

This sculpture deals with a typical subject from the Vienna Bronze-era as it is a useful and equally decorative item. The winged devil is lying on its back and holding a mussel shell in his hands. The shell can be used as storage for business cards, paper clips, also cigarettes and much more. Whether in private or business premises: The devil cuts a fine figure wherever it goes and is hallmarked with the stamp of the Bergmann foundry.

As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections. The sculpture was manufactured as a smeltable wax model and is mounted atop of a green marble base.

Vienna bronzes are famous and distinguished by their naturalistic and detailed representation of human figures and all species of animals, ranging from Oriental bazaars to elegant erotic nudes. Animlas such as birds of prey or amusing frogs, owls, dogs, cats, and small animals acting like people or just themselves are very common Vienna Bronzes.
