Faun with Goat - Vienna Bronze - Bergmann stamp, 2-piece

The sculpture on the left is imitated from the Greek mythological context and shows the sexual act between a faun and a goat. Cave paintings depicting sex between humans and animals are already known from the Bronze Age (Sweden) and the Iron Age (Italy), but apart from some literary references, as in the myth of Leda, such representations are rare. The most famous depiction of sexual human-animal relations is "Leda and the Swan" by Michelangelo. The two-part sculpture on the left is an ironic and witty work of art from the time of the Vienna bronze and not to forget, it is hallmarked with the stamp of the famous Bergmann foundry, making this figure even more attractive.

The bronze statue was made ​​using the lost-wax-method, which has been practiced for thousands of years and fulfills strict quality guidelines. The method is subject to a complex, multi-day process of about 30 steps.

The famous Vienna bronzes were made in the Austrian capital Vienna. The most well-known producer of painted miniatures is the Bergmann foundry, which was first established 1884 in Vienna by Franz Bergmann and at the beginning of the 20th century, Vienna was the home of approximatly 80 different bronze foundries.
