"Bronze Sculpture - Auguste Rodin - The Hand of God (1917) - sign"
Weight | 1,3 kg |
Rodin's last work was a small female torso, held here by "The Hand of God" (1917). The hand is a cast of Rodin's own hand, making by Amédé Bertault on request of the sculptor Rodin on his deathbed. Shown is the Hand of God, which brings life into the woman. Eva comes to life. It is not created from Adam's rib, but as an independent, autonomous creature. The human and especially the female body was the primary source of his inspiration. Auguste Rodin once said: "The dazzling glory, which the artist can see through the denuding model, is similar to the sun as it breaks through the clouds with its rays. Venus, Eva, these are only weak terms to describe the beauty of a woman." The sculpture is provided with the signature in the same place as the original.
In more than 30 operations and more than 100 hours of work, the graceful bronze figure was produced lavishly. We guarantee high standards in all our procedures. Rodin’s bronze sculpture was produced with the lost wax method.
Auguste Rodin (1840-1917) is regarded as a modernizer of sculptural art and ranks next to Michelangelo as one of the most popular sculptors of all times. With its multi-faceted surface design Rodin moved the sculptural art in a new direction. The genius of his impressionistic language of forms found many imitators, but it is unique up to today. Flickering lights and mysterious shadows make the characters come to life by the interplay of light and shade.
