Stylish shades of grey flow into one another over a large portion of this picture. In this almost monotonous setting, a red sailing boat directs the focus to the centre of the picture. The waves starting from the sailing boat lend a certain dynamism to the painting, which suggests an enthralling sailing regatta. There is also a far more subtle sailing boat in the right-hand section of the picture. But the two objects are on an equal footing. Martin Klein (* 1979) is a German painter and sculptor. After successfully completing a degree in Business Studies, in 2005 he enrolled at the Hochschule für Bildende Kunst (Academy of Fine Arts) in Dresden to study Art. To finance his second degree, Martin Klein worked in an art gallery, where he showcased his first works. His exhibition was a success; his modern sculptures and abstract paintings enjoyed great admiration in particular. The first exhibition in this art gallery was followed by two touring exhibitions.
