Product description
It is a symbol of peace and rebuilding, and at the same time a memorial to the destructive power of war – the Dresden Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). Today, the church is the heart of the Neumarkt area and quite possibly the most-dominant monumental structure in Dresden’s old town silhouette, but Saxony’s state capital had to do without its landmark for a long time. The destruction of the Frauenkirche in the night bombing of 13th February left behind a deep gap in the striking appearance of Dresden’s cityscape, which was only filled in 2005 when the rebuilding came to an end. This central role in Dresden’s history also interested Dresden artist Martin Klein. For his visual interpretation, he journeys through various periods in the history of the Frauenkirche and processes them into his work Future View 2015. Besides clear contours, the picture features a striking interplay between light and shadow. According to the artist, this symbolises the contrasting times of war and peace.
Our entire repertoire consists of hand-painted acrylic and oil pictures. For this reason, they only exist in limited quantities. Each of our works has been signed by Martin Klein personally. These are unique pieces. Therefore, the picture delivered may differ slightly from the version shown.
Martin Klein (*1979) is a renowned painter and sculptor from the Dresden region. His versatile artistic talent is reflected in his multifaceted works. After focusing his attention on New York City in numerous pictures, images of his home country are now moving into the focus of Klein’s work.
