As all of the bronze products in our shop, this exhibit is hand-cast in our own foundry and subject to our strict quality inspections throughout the entire process of fabrication. All of our sculptures are exclusively compounded with the help of lost-wax casting.
Otto Gutfreund, a Czech sculptor and the creator of this sculpture, was born on August 3, 1889 in Dvur Krávók and passed away on July 2, 1927 in Prague. Gutfreund attended the Technical College for Pottery in Bechyne - where he learned under Josef Drahonovsky - as well as a private school in Paris, where he studied under the guidance of Émile-Antoine Bourdelle. His works are mainly influenced by cubism as well as abstraction. Otto Gutfreund not only co-founded the Prague artist group >Skupina<, but he also held the chair for architectural sculpture at the Technical College for Pottery in Prague. Thus, Otto Gutfreund had a deep impact on following generations of sculptors. The literacy character Don Quijote was invented by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. The well-known German translation was once made by Ludwig Tieck and the most popular part of the novel is the fight of Don Quijote against the wind mill.
