Product description
This painting is a tribute to Lucian Freud's “Benefits Supervisor Sleeping“. The painting was created in 1995 and shows the insane obesity of a naked woman sleeping on a sofa. It was the British “Sue Tilley“ who had to pose for this picture on an old-fashioned couch for months. It exhibits Freud’s typical stylistics of relentless realism: The opulent and naked woman’s body is characteristic of Lucian Freud's carnosity in his paintings.
All our repertoire of pictures consists of hand-painted acrylic and oil paintings available only in limited edition. The delivered painting may differ slightly from the illustrated copy as each painting is unique.
Lucian Freud is regarded as one of the most important contemporary artists. The grandson of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud was born on the 8th of December in 1922 in Berlin. He escaped to England in the beginning of World War II where he adapted British citizenship in 1939. His individual expression of portraits and nude paintings characterizes a unique and distinctive style. Through his realistic and unadorned paintings Freud gained international recognition. At the age of 88 years the British painter dies in London in 2011.
