Josef Lorenzl (1892-1950) was an Austrian sculptor and ceramicist. The young artist first worked in a foundry of the Viennese arsenal, where he studied the craft of bronze casting. Later on, apart from ivory and bronze statues, he also created sculptures made out of ceramics, which he delivered to the manufactory Goldscheider. The workshop of Lorenzl was situated directly on the premises of the manufactory. Some of his most prominent colleagues were Ferdinand Preiss and Demetre Haralamb Chiparus. Lorenzl died in 1950 in his birthplace of Vienna.
