Bronze Skull with Butterflies - signed Martin Klein
This black contemporary sculpture of a skull made of bronze captures the contrast between life and death. The inspiring bronze figurine makes it clear that life and death are actually not that far apart from each other. The skull perfectly symbolises death. When there is nothing but bones left of a human being, they left the world of the living a very long time ago. Death is final. The delicately composed butterflies represent the life that comes back to what it left behind when it ended. In this piece of contemporary art, the artist Martin Klein put together the themes of contradiction and unity and created a sculpture which might seem quite grim for some, but nonetheless will lead the observer to think about a lot of things.
Like all of the other bronze sculptures for sale in our shop, this exhibit is subject to our strict quality guidelines during its creation and is cast by hand. Additionally, all our sculptures are produced by using the lost wax technique.
Martin Klein (* 1979) is an artist from Bischofswerda. Nowadays, he lives and works in Dresden. In 2005, he finished a degree in business administration, but afterwards studied art at Dresden's Academy of Fine Arts. He paid for his studies by working at an art gallery, where he was able to show his first works. Klein uses several different materials. Aside from bronze figurines, his works also include modern fibreglass sculptures and acrylic paintings. His art is characterised by a wide range of topics. The clever implementation and unusual design vocabulary are both innovative and spectacular.
