During the early 20th century, Rembrandt Bugatti created more than 300 animal sculptures. Among those were also several feline predators such as lions, panthers and cheetahs. Thanks to his unique sculptures, Bugatti played a crucial role in the way animal sculptures were depicted throughout the 20th century. The artist’s pieces were particularly famous for the virtuoso way in which they were designed. However, Bugatti did not only want to merely depict animals, as he strived to capture their individual natures into bronze. Rembrandt Bugatti (1884 - 1916) was an Italian artist who specialised in the depiction of animals from an early age on. In total, he created more than 300 animal sculptures during his short life.
