The numerous animal sculptures by Italian artist Rembrandt Bugatti are characterised by an extremely natural and vivid representation. As a result, the natural shapes of the sculptures are often combined with a masterly surface design. This is also the case for this contemporary animal figurine that skilfully captures the remarkable figure of a bulky domestic pig into bronze. Placed on a green marble base, the realistic bronze depiction has details that are visible both in the presentation of the whole surface as well as the realistic design in itself. Rough wrinkles and little hairs can both be found all over the body of the pig. Occasional polishings highlight this timeless animal statue, which is made from 100% bronze and is equipped with the signature of the artist.

Rembrandt Bugatti (1884 - 1916) was an Italian sculptor who spent almost his whole life in Paris. Inspired by the numerous animal species in the Jardin des Plantes, Bugatti early on started to create animal sculptures. Today, most of his sculptures are in the hands of private collectors.
